What is Indie Book List?
Indie Book List is a free directory that hosts indie books across all genres and tropes and supports indie authors. Readers can search and filter books by genre, trope, rating and author identity, then buy straight from the author or on Amazon.
How do I submit a book?
Create a free author account in Author Land, then use your author dashboard to submit your book with its cover, blurb, genres, tropes and buy links. We check every submission and email you as soon as it is live.
Does it cost anything to list my book?
No. Listing your book on Indie Book List is currently free.
What is your AI policy?
We do not accept books written by AI. Indie Book List exists to celebrate human creativity, so every author confirms when they submit that their book was written by a person, not generated by AI. If we find a listing that breaks this policy we will remove it.
What kinds of books can I submit?
Self-published, indie and small press books in any genre, as long as the book is available to buy. Books for adult readers are welcome, but please add content warnings where they are needed. We do not list books that promote hate or break the law.
How long does it take for my book to go live?
We review submissions by hand, so it can take a few days. You can see the status of everything you have submitted in your author dashboard.
What are Kindle Days?
Kindle Days is our calendar of indie books that are free or discounted on Kindle for a limited time. Authors with a live book can add a deal from their dashboard.
How do reader ratings work?
Anyone can rate a book from its page. Every rating is checked before it appears, and the star ratings you see are from readers on Indie Book List only.
What does author identity mean?
Authors can choose to add identity tags to their profile, such as LGBTQ+, disabled or neurodivergent author. It is always optional, and it helps readers discover and support a wider range of voices.
How do I update my listing?
You can edit your author profile from your dashboard. To change a book that is already live, get in touch through our contact page and we will update it for you.
Do you use affiliate links?
Some links to Amazon are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, which helps keep Indie Book List free.
